Kleos has been in Spanish law firms for years, and there are solid reasons for it. Wolters Kluwer stands behind it, with the stability and continuity a global publishing group brings; it draws on the group's own legal databases and document estate; and it comes with an implementation, training and support network no young company can match overnight. If your firm values those three things above everything else, Kleos is a defensible choice and we won't pretend otherwise.
Mandato competes somewhere else: on what it costs as you grow, on how long it takes to get running, and on where the AI lives. Where we have no verified public information about Kleos, the cell says so rather than implying a gap — a comparison written by the vendor already starts with enough of an advantage.

The price as you grow
The practical difference between the two products shows up when the firm grows. Mandato publishes its per-user price, offers a free 14-day trial with no card and asks for no lock-in: a firm of three can start on Tuesday and be a firm of nine by March without renegotiating anything.
Kleos works from a bespoke quote. That has a genuine virtue — the price fits what you need — and a genuine cost: you don't know what you'll pay until you speak to someone, and what you'll pay in two years depends on a conversation you haven't had yet.
We are not saying Kleos is expensive. We are saying you can't find out from their website, and we'd rather you found out from ours.
Configuration without a project
Serious practice-management software has to bend to how a firm actually works: its matters, its templates, its workflows. The question isn't whether it can be configured, but what that costs and who does it.
Mandato is built for the firm to configure itself, with no consultancy in between. Templates, matter types and workflows are edited from inside the product. That design has an honest limit: if your firm needs a bespoke integration with an in-house system, we are not the tool.
Kleos arrives with an implementation and training network which, for a large firm with settled processes, is exactly what is required. That is a strength, not a flaw. It is also a project, with a timeline and an invoice.
Where the AI lives
Mandato's AI isn't a separate module. It sits in the flow: in the matter that gets summarised, the notification that files itself, the document that is classified on arrival. There is no AI screen to visit; there is work you no longer do.
Kleos offers AI features inside its suite, resting on the group's document estate. For a firm that lives on legal research, having the database and the assistant under one roof is an advantage Mandato does not have: we don't sell a legal database, and we're not going to imply that we do.
The client conversation
Kleos handles the matter and the document well, but it isn't built around the conversation with the client. It doesn't integrate WhatsApp, and email and calls don't converge into a single inbox per matter: they still live in Outlook, on a handset and in a note.
For a local firm with clients who call and write in Spanish, that may be enough. For a firm with international clients who write on WhatsApp at all hours, the difference shows up every day: in Mandato that message lands on the matter, from a firm-owned number rather than a partner's phone.
It's a difference of focus, not a flaw in Kleos. Kleos came from the document and legal-research world; Mandato was born in a firm serving more than twenty nationalities that needed every channel — email, WhatsApp, call — to end up in the same place.
You want a legal database inside the suite, your firm is large and values an accompanied rollout, or the backing of a global group matters more than agility.
You want to know what you'll pay before speaking to anyone, to start this week without an implementation project, to have AI in every workflow rather than in a module, and to serve international clients in their own language.
We import your matters — no pain, no Excel in between.
Clients, matters and documents migrate as part of onboarding, at no extra cost.
